a republicans view...

i want too call it a close one...but it wasn't.

letting the cat out of the bag now, i do prefer (as it states on my ballot) the republican party. my vote did go to senator john mccain. some people may call this vote a "waste" i beg to differ.

sitting in my living room, is where i experienced an historic event, via television and internet.

when it was declared that Barak Obama is the new president of The United States of America, i was apart of the many reactions of my internet peers. a majority were ecstatic of Obamas victory and others (including me) were not so happy. When updating my status on my facebook page, i managed to put 'oBOMBa won.' at the time, thinking nobody will pay attention to it, but i was sorely mistaken. i took it upon myself to change my status not even 40 minutes later, and that was before i even found out, that i was looked down upon for putting it there.

i apologize if i offended ANYONE for putting that there. i do realize that was an immature response, and it was all in aggression, which apparently republicans are all about. being angry.

for the longest time i tried to stay out of politics, knowing it could cause some conflict, which i am not a big fan of. but then i got in the spirit, people telling me to go vote, banners, flyers, commercials, celebrities, all telling me that my vote DOES count.

i voted because i wanted my voice heard.
i voted because i wanted to be a part of history.
i voted so i could see change, whether it be mccain or obama.
i voted for me.

a little part of me regrets the decesion of ever telling people who i voted for, simply because i wanted to avoid the question "why are you voting for mccain?"
in all honesty, i am unable to answer that question, finding my self way un-educated for this presidential election. my vote was based on what was said about both candidates, obviously talking to more republicans than democrat, as my family has a republican background and one of my close friends. i am aware that this was not the right way to go about it, but when it came to voting time, it was 'choose or loose.' i don't regret my vote for senator mccain whatsoever. i hope people look at this as me expressing my honesty and not judging me as poser. i think what really counts is that i got out there and voted. i feel it is never too late to do my research.

i am not happy with the outcome of the election but i am not sad about it either. there is nothing i do to change this decison by the American people. you have to look forward in a situation like this, you cannot be upset forever. move on. think of the positives and not the negatives. i want to see change. i want to see what barack has in store for America. i have to give it to him for reaching out to the younger voters in this election. we are the future, i feel if mccain would have done the same, this would have been a much closer call. countless times did i see barack on mtv and nickelodeon. props to him because i believe we are what really counts. this generation. this country is so diverse, and that is what is lovely about it, we can do anything we put our minds too here. we have amazing benefits in America.

i am, however, glad this is over. it was such a great experience voting and witnessing history last night. this is something i will never forget.

“Young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled, Americans have sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of red states and blue states,” he said. “We have been and always will be the United States of America." -President, Barack Obama
